October President’s Letter

Dear Friends,

We were invited (last minute) to participate in the Fishers Farmers Market “Club Day” on September 21st.  With lots of member help (and the loan of a canopy from Allyn Baker), we set up a table with quilts, tables, and chairs from the storeroom (thanks, Diane Dimpfl!).  Melissa Schulman brought a wagon to help set up and teardown – and lug the bags of salt needed to “tether” the canopy.  It was fun to hang out with Teresa Barnes, Judy MacDonald, Helene read more

September Speaker-JoAnn Burke

JoAnn Burke from Accomplish Quilting joined us on Monday to discuss long arm quilting, thread and batting. What an informative session it was. She touched on thread weight and when to use them effectively for your quilting.

Then we got to the good part, she shared a trunk show of the quilts AQ has quilted for customers of the Indiana location.

Thank you JoAnn for a wonderful discussion about all things quilty.

September President’s Letter

Dear Friends,

A few of us spent 2 hours re-folding Vicki S’s quilts at her husband’s request.  (Vicki was a beloved member who passed away last year.)  There were well over 100 quilts some with deep personal meaning.  We could see Vicki’s journey as a quilter as we laid out each quilt and carefully folded it on the bias to prevent permanent creases. Obviously, she was a prolific and very talented quilter and we talked with Bob as we oohed and aahed over each beautiful piece of work.  read more

August President’s Letter

Dear Friends,

I hope you all had as much fun quilting as I did in July!  The week ended with “Mary Camp,” where a young cousin comes and stays with us for a week.  We focus on new experiences and learning new skills.  This year, she learned to make Mudslides and Rose Sangria – no alcohol for her, of course – but yummy for me!  She also wanted to make a quilt, and we used a 3-yard pattern that was perfect for a beginner.  She sewed every stitch, and the binding went together on read more
